Monday 06 Nov 2017 UAE 'Home for Tolerance' and A unique Example in Respect towards Others ZHIC holds Second Tolerance Forum at Paris - Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi
Dr. Nedal al Tinaiji, the General Director of Zayed House for Islamic Culture (ZHIC) highlighted the UAE experience in establishing the values of tolerance and peace at local and international levels. Especially as the UAE has gone so far as to realize the values of tolerance that have become common amongst communities. For the positive environment furnished to bring up a generation immune to fanaticism and hatred. Moreover, she added that the conference under the motto ‘Tolerance: Approach and Deportment’ came as part of the strategic initiatives ZHIC is working on in the framework of its contribution to realizing Abu Dhabi Government vision. Which aims to establish a confident and secure community with an open and sustainable economy instituting the culture of tolerance and moderation. Furthermore, she pinpointed that the credit goes to the thinking of late Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul in peace) in holding such gatherings. The man who laid the foundations of tolerance and respect to others. Thankfully, the legacy is continued by the wise leadership of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE (may God save him) and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai (may God preserve him). Along with the good following of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE armed forces. ZHIC duly acknowledges their Highnesses who have collaboratively translated the vision into a fact asserting the UAE proactivity in various fields. The speech took place at the Second Tolerance Forum organized by ZHIC in Pairs-Sorbonne University yesterday. The Forum agenda included a number of media professionals and enlightening intellectuals. The Forum first session   entitled ‘Components of Upholding Human Tolerance’ and the second came under the title ‘Roadmap for Universal Tolerance’. The two sessions comprised several topics among them, UAE Experience in Human Tolerance and Media Steering for Universal Tolerance in Open Spaces Era. The first session witnessed the participation of Dr. F. Hamada, Consultant at the Court of HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Mr. Rashid al Tinaiji, deputy executive manager of the National Tolerance Program of the Ministry of Tolerance. Beside Mr. M. Cruise, the executive director of Hedayah International Center of Excellence in combatting violent extremism (Hedayah Center) and the senior UAE diplomat Dr. Yousef al Hassan. The session was moderated by Mr. Hassan al Mansouri, the Acting Secretary General of Sharjah Media Council. Calmness and positive thinking The participants presented papers portraying the establishment of values of tolerance, moderation and human coexistence. In addition to demonstrating the unique image of the UAE with regard to peaceful coexistence, religious tolerance and acceptance of others. In this connection, Dr. F. Hamada stated that ‘The value of tolerance has been in mind since the founding of the UAE by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God rest his soul in peace)’. As he noted the significance of the Forum in enlightening the public about the UAE standing and concepts adopted. The speaker emphasized the necessity of presenting new ideas to form a way out through which people proceed to realize security, stability and a respite from international wars heaped out of extremism, fanaticism and hate spreading everywhere nowadays. He added ‘No doubt, such forums contribute to eliminating all negative effects on humans and soothing souls, families and communities by providing positive and creative thinking. As calmness truly begets positive thinking’. Tolerance is deeply rooted in UAE Mr. Rashid al Tinaiji themed human tolerance as he noted the good step taken for the Forum to inculcate the culture of tolerance in society. Besides disseminating the message to community segments, particularly the youth. He related that ‘It is good that the gathering is taking place at a university and attended by students and professors. Notably as the Forum acts as a future message through which social harmony and coherence will become even stronger.  For tolerance is second nature to our community which hosts around 200 nationalities. Admittedly, it is only natural in the community cultured in tolerance in its modern, philosophical human sense. Furthermore, Mr. Cruise spoke about tolerance, security and international peace, as he presented points and steps to address the ideologies and types of extremism. On his part, Dr. Yousef al Hassan called for the necessity of common efforts to spread positive values that enhance tolerance, coexistence and peace; pointing to the challenges to the spread of international tolerance and mechanism to overcome them. Warmongering media The second session included Mr. M. al Hamady, the executive director of editing and publishing of Abu Dhabi Media and editor in chief of al Ittihad newspaper. Added to Dr. N. A’rif, Zayed University president consultant, Dr. Najwa al Housani, a professor at the faculty of education, UAE University, and Dr.  Shaojin Chai, academician and researcher at the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development.  Mr. M. al Hamady, the session moderator, is an anchor at Emarat Channel and editor in chief of al Ittihad newspaper. He related that media shoulders huge responsibility as it transmits news.  For it either be a medium for good or evil of extremism. Therefore, the role of media is of paramount significance in relation to tolerance and coexistence.   Mr. Hamady also delved into the types of media of conventional and modern. Notably, networks communication, as presenting statistics and figures regarding users on the sites and digital programs.  Besides, the effect of media in modern era, ideologies and theses held by people behind them. Added to the support of some countries to extreme ideologies in violation to tolerance and coexistence. Which went as far as funding to create sectarian conflicts. On his part, Dr N. A’rif commended the UAE unique law on combating discrimination and hate. Dr Nedal al Tinaiji, ZHIC General Director and Dr Mohammed A. al Falahi, ZHIC Chairman of the Board of Directors honoured Forum participants. Last year, Abu Dhabi hosted the first tolerance forum held under the title ‘Tolerance is the Foundation of our Culture’. The Forum was a good addition  to human thought A number of audience admitted that the Forum was a good addition to human thought for the necessity of tolerance.  Of those was Manal al Blooshi, who related that the Forum denoted tolerance, which does not mean forgiveness, but acceptance and engagement with others. Through containment in order to understand their needs and come to a common ground for a friendly footing.
