Tuesday 12 Nov 2019 'Covenant for Million Tolerant' Hits One Million Participants One Million Participants in the 'Covenant for Million Tolerant
Zayed House for Islamic Culture (ZHIC) announced registering a million tolerant in the e-initiative of ‘Covenant for Million Tolerant’ launched last April as part of the ‘Year of Tolerance’ programs aiming to promote values of tolerance as a moral ideal in the UAE community of locals and residents.
The statistics shew that visitors of the e- platform reached one million and three hundred thousand persons of which 68% were males and 32% females.
The participants were of various nationalities from 200 countries reflecting the community cohesion demonstrated in the UAE of international tolerance. The overall proportion of local participants to other nationalities were 51% to 49% respectively.
Moreover, 116 of UAE ministries, institutions, companies and private sector entities cooperated and took part in ZHIC initiative as to urge their employees to participate in the Covenant. Which received support from officials and dignitaries on social network sites where 69 of them signed the Covenant promoted in 10 local and international arenas. Including 265 public schools in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge.
ZHIC General Director Dr. Nedal al Tinaiji related that the Covenant came to realize the aspirations and directives of the wise leadership aiming to spread and establish the values of tolerance, love and charitable deeds amongst members of society. Besides, fostering of mutual respect, coexistence and harmony propellant to community development and stability as per the policies set by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Dr. al Tinaiji added that participation outside UAE reached 28% reflecting the interest abroad due to the good reputation of the UAE instilled by the founding fathers and established by HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan through his leadership for progress and development.
Furthermore, Dr. al Tinaiji pointed out that the noble message embedded in the Covenant for an individual to be tolerant with oneself, the surrounding individuals and community because of the meaning of tolerance in life, was proved through the outstanding participation presented equally by locals, residents, public and private institutions. Which endeavored to bring the number of signees to one million through the brief period of the last seven months since April. In which the initiative came within numerous events adopted by ZHIC as part of its project ‘Emirates of Tolerance’ in conjunction with the ’Year of Tolerance’ to promote values of tolerance amongst society to realize community cohesion.
