Title:Till I Love Him Category:General Source:Dr. Fatima al Ali,2019   Description:a Muslim should seize the time of strength to do as much supererogatory acts as possible
Out of ease and cordiality, Islam allows voluntary and extra worships to not only draw a servant closer to his/her Lord, but also to be a cause for an elevated status in this world and the world to come. As the Hadith states, ‘A servant of mine comes no closer to me other than by keeping the commandments. Yet his supererogatory worships definitely grant him my love …’ Sahih Bukhari: 6502.
Therefore, a Muslim should seize the time of strength to do as much supererogatory acts as possible, for the plethora of goodness and virtue yielded from such acts. For extra worships make up for the shortcomings of the obligatory duties. As the Hadith relates, ‘The first thing for which a person is held accountable is prayer (if perfect); otherwise, God will say, see if my servant did voluntary worship. If so, that will make up for the shortcoming’. Sahih Nissae: 466.
Moreover, supererogatory worship can be a cause for forgiveness of sins through Taraweeh and Ramadan late night prayer. The messenger (PBUH) would urge his followers to perform late night prayers during Ramadan; on which he says ‘He who does the late night prayer during Ramadan out of faith and hope for reward, his past sins will be forgiven’. Sahih Muslim: 759.
Furthermore, good deeds such as repeating Umrah, can incur multiple rewards. The Hadith stipulates ‘From one Umrah to another, is an atonement of sins …’ Sahih Bukhari: 1773. Added to the great reward from God to those who come closer go Him through good deeds. The Prophet (PBHU) recounts, ‘Whoever prays twelve Rak’as a day, a house will be built for him in paradise’. Sahih Muslim: 728. The Rak’as are four before Zhur and two afterwards, two following Maghreb, two following ‘Isha and tow before Fajr. Sahih Tirmizi: 414.
It is part of Sunnah as well, to perform extra prayers at home, as the Hadith specifies ‘Having observed prayers at mosque, spare some to do at home; for the goodness that God bestows thereat’. Sahih Muslim: 778.

Therefore, a Muslim should not only aim high but also be persistently dutiful with regard to voluntary worship to elevate and get more reward.
