Title:Human Tolerance and Islam Category:General Source:Abdulbasith muhammad Ibrahim,2019   Description:The closest faith to God is the tolerant unitary one
In Islam, tolerance is a sign of God, worthy of reflection, especially as human diversity is a source of richness to human civilization. God says, ‘And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colors: verily in that are Signs for those who know’. Q, 30:22 . Thus, a Muslim tolerant in words and deeds knows the spirit of religion and themes thereto aiming to spare people from the evils of extremism, fundamentalism and hate as per the hadith, ‘The closest faith to God is the tolerant unitary one’. Bukhari . Thus, the need to tolerance will remain dire as long as there is diversity to promote coexistence instead of uncalled-for repercussions .  Throughout the ages, our history is rampant with tolerance drawn from Arabic and Islamic culture practically documented through dealings with other nations. For instance, the Charter of Medina and the Covenant of Omer for the people of Jerusalem are only examples of tolerance its documentation kept to present time. Notably as their texts, guarantee religious diversity, safety of souls, property and civil rights for all the segments of the society . Moreover, the Islamic Andalusian era witnessed peerless tolerance by the Arab Muslims who welcomed others through trade and their intellectual institutions from which great astronomers, physicians and artists of both Muslims and non-Muslims graduated. Namely, philosophers such as Maimonides, Ibn Kammuna, and Surgeon Jawad al Nassrani, etc . Correspondingly, the English orientalist Sir Thomas Arnold (1864-1930) related that, truly, non-Arabs and non-Muslims in general, enjoyed a good deal of tolerance incomparable in both occidental and oriental world of modern time . Therefore, it is not surprising that the tolerance witnessed in the UAE is a natural extension to the human Islamic heritage acceptant to diversity as a universal human fact that in no way prevents compassion and fraternity between all humankind .
